An invitation for BIWoC, (Black, Indigenous Womxn of Colour), including all those self-identifying as womxn, non-binary, and gender non-conforming community members.

WHAT: A healing space for us at this critical time to come together at the intersection of race, gender and the climate justice movement to share our dance medicine with each other to grieve, rage, celebrate resilience in our own respective sacred ways.

A one hour conscious dance DJ set of love songs for the Amazon and indigenous womxn defenders whose communities are facing genocide and ecocide due to the COVID pandemic and historical systemic racism and inequity fueled by white supremacy - so, that as we dance for ourselves we also dance for the well-being of our Mama Amazona and her family.

SCHEDULE: 

7:30pm -Opening Circle. Welcome, Community check-in, What to expect, Agreements. 

8pm - Dance 

9pm - Closing Circle. Q&A, Community check-out.

COST: This invitation to you is from my heart to yours, knowing that we all deserve to have creative/healing spaces to just be. There is no cost for this offering, as I want to respect the effects COVID has had on many of us as well.

However, if you do feel called I will be collecting donations for “Amazon Watch - Women Defenders Fund”. This is where my heart service also lies.

Amazon Watch supports female identified indigenous leaders who advocate on behalf of the Amazon and their communities. They are also, in my opinion, at the forefront of politicized environmental organizations that understand the intersections between white supremacy, racism and environmental racism here in North America and the struggles of the Amazon and her people.

ABOUT CONSCIOUS DANCE: Conscious Dance is a free-style/form dance experience guided by music. There are no structure or steps to follow. You simply move in the way your body leads you to. The music is meant to take you on a healing journey/exploration of the self through a curated arc of songs guiding you through various mindful states.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR & DJ: I am a mestizx, cisgendered-womxn of Quechua, Muisca, Spanish ancestry, (that I know of up to now). I am a Minister, Educator and a recent mother to a 10 month old earth being. I have always respected sacred personal dance as a potent healing medicine and I feel inspired when I am in community envisioning, creating alongside others a better place for us all here on Mother Earth.
